1997 - Robert Svehla (Slovakia) and Esa Tikkanen (Finland) are named to their National Teams that will compete in the XVIII Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

Mike Keenan
2001 - Mike Keenan becomes the fifth head coach in Panthers history, replacing Duane Sutter. Chuck Fletcher takes over interim general manager duties.


2009 - Forward Radek Dvorak plays in the 1,000th NHL game of his career.


1999 - The Panthers tie a team record with five goals in a wild third period at Phoenix, winning 6-1. Right wing Pavel Bure scores a team-record three goals in the third period.

2000 - At a press conference in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announces that the Florida Panthers will host the 2003 NHL All-Star Weekend at the Office Depot Center on Feb. 1-2, 2003.

Nathan Horton
2005 - Nathan Horton records his first career hat-trick, becoming the youngest Panther ever to accomplish this feat (20 years old)

1998 - The Florida Panthers signed a long-term player development deal with their own American Hockey League affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky beginning in the 1999 season. The Panthers will supply a minimum of 18 players, in addition to the coaching and training staff.

Pavel Bure
1999 - Pavel Bure scores the winning goal in his third consecutive game, establishing a new team record, as the Cats win at Pittsburgh, 5-2.

1999 - Panthers right wing Pavel Bure is named NHL Player of the Week and celebrates by scoring a goal in his fifth straight game establishing a new franchise record. Florida, however, falls 6-4 at home to Toronto.

1999 - With an assist in his seventh straight game, Pavel Bure establishes another franchise record. His helper is part of a 6-1 victory at Tampa Bay.

1997 - John Vanbiesbrouck records the 300th victory of his NHL career and 100th as a Panther in a 6-2 win over the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. Vanbiesbrouck becomes the 15th goaltender in NHL history — and second American — to win 300 games.

2000 - After a 6-18-7-5 start, caused in part by a rash of early injuries, Vice President and General Manager Bryan Murray and Head Coach Terry Murray are relieved of their duties. Duane Sutter becomes the Panthers' fifth head coach.
