Mike Vernon

2000 - The Panthers kick off the new millennium with a 7-5 home win over Tampa Bay. Pavel Bure ties a team record with four goals in the contest and equals his own franchise mark with three goals in a period. Mike Vernon notches his first victory in a Panthers uniform.  


2000 - Florida right wing Pavel Bure is named Player of the Month for December. He scored 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) in 13 games to win the honor.

Nathan Horton

2004 - Nathan Horton becomes the youngest player in NHL history to successfully attempt a penalty shot at 18 years, 224 days, beating Philadelphia Flyers goalie Jeff Hackett.

Olli Jokinen

2007 - Olli Jokinen records his second hat trick of the season and third of his career in a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jokinen's previous hat tricks came November 15, 2006 against Montreal and November 25, 2005 also against Pittsburgh.


1999 - Center Viktor Kozlov is selected to play for the World team at the 1999 NHL All-Star Game in Tampa Bay.

1995 - The NHL Players Association accepts the NHL's final collective bargaining agreement proposal, bringing an end to the 103-day labor dispute, which reduced the NHL's 84-game season to 48 games.

2007 - Stephen Weiss records his first career NHL hat trick in a 7-3 victory over the Washington Capitals. It is the second hat trick scored at home by a Florida Panther. Florida also records a franchise-high 54 shots on goal in the win.

Scott Mellanby

2000 - Original Panther and team captain Scott Mellanby records his 600th NHL point with a game-winning goal in a 5-1 home win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

1998 - Center Kirk Muller becoens the 124th player in NHL history to play in 1000 games when he suits up for a game versus the Phoenix Coyotes. He is also the third player to reach that milestone as a Panther (Mike Foligno and Gaetan Duchesne).


2013 - Defenseman Ed Jovanovski named captain of the Panthers. a 17-year veteran became the seventh captain in franchise history.

2012 - Forward Stephen Weiss becomes the franchise’s all-time leader in assists when he records his 232nd against Boston.

2007 - The Florida Panthers franchise records its 1,000th regular-season game in a Tuesday-night tilt against the Carolina Hurricanes.

2002 - All-Star defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh makes his Panthers debut after being acquired along with Byron Ritchie in a trade that sends Bret Hedican, Kevyn Adams, Tomas Malec and a draft pick to Carolina.

Pavel Bure

1999 - Panthers GM Bryan Murray pulls off the biggest trade in franchise history when he acquires right wing Pavel Bure, defenseman Bret Hedican and junior defenseman Brad Ference from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Ed Jovanovski, center Dave Gagner, goaltender Kevin Weekes and junior winger Mike Brown. The Panthers will also send a first-round draft choice to the Canucks in either 1999 or 2000, at Florida' s option. The Panthers will receive a third-round draft choice from the Canucks in the year the first-rounder is exchanged.

Roberto Luongo

2002 - Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo and left wing Kristian Huselius are selected for the NHL's inaugural YoungStars Game.

1997- For the second year in a row, Doug MacLean coaches the Eastern Conference to victory in the NHL All-Star Game. John Vanbiesbrouck makes his third All-Star appearance and Robert Svehla records two assists and a plus-6 rating in the contest.


2008 -18-year old Shawn Matthias scores his first two career NHL goals in only his second career NHL game in Washington. Matthias had made his NHL debut the night before in New Jersey.


1999 - Pavel Bure makes his Panthers debut at the Nassau Coliseum vs. the New York Islanders and scores two goals in 12 minutes and nine seconds of ice time.

1996 - Coach Doug MacLean leads the Panthers to the best record in the Eastern Conference and earns the right to coach in the All-Star Game in Boston, MA. MacLean is joined by Panthers John Vanbiesbrouck and Scott Mellanby.

John Vanbiesbrouck

2000 - Pavel Bure scores his 300th NHL goal, setting a new team record for goals in a season (33) in the process. He also scores No. 301 with an overtime game-winner in a 4-3 home victory over Boston. It is also a new team record for game-winning goals in a season (8).

1994 - Goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck and right wing Bob Kudelski represent the Panthers at the NHL All-Star Game at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Kudelski scores two goals in the contest.


1996 - Johan Garpenlov scores three goals in the Panthers’ 5-4 win at Washington to record the first hat trick in team history.


1994 - In front of a sellout crowd at Miami Arena, the Panthers set a team record with five goals in one period and skate to an 8-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. It’s their largest winning margin of the season.


2007 - The Panthers announce the hiring of Randy Sexton as the team's Assistant General Manager.

1999 - Pavel Bure scores all three Panthers goals in a 3-3 tie at Philadelphia. It is his first hat trick as a Panther and 10th of his career.

Sean Burke

1999 - Pavel Bure makes his Office Depot Center debut and assists on Oleg Kvasha's game-winning goal. Sean Burke makes 29 saves in the 2-1 win over the Canadiens.

2003 - NHL All-Star festivities begin in South Florida as the Stanley Cup arrives via boat on the Las Olas riverfront.

2003 - The NHL All-Star Block Party kicks off four days of activity at the Office Depot Center.

1994 - Rookie center Jesse Belanger is named the NHL’s “Player of the Week” for the period ending January 30. Belanger becomes the first Panther to win the award and the first to win it in his club’s inaugural season. Belanger had four goals and four assists in four games.
